My first time using bevel clusters. I want to insert a 5 point star cluster into a pane of glass used in a lampshade. how do you go about it ?? Do you assemble the cluster first , foiling and soldering it , or do you cut the pane to fit , and how do you do this??

I would foil them and only flat solder but not all the way to any edge. Then with some lines of some kind I would line it up on the pattern and trace it with a bic pen or pencil. Both of these will leave a little space from the edge of the bevel, and cutting on the line should eliminate a lot of grinding.

Tip ---- look for flaring on the edges of the bevel and remove if found, flares work better with lead when the allowance will tolerate it, but with foil look horrible.

Hope this helps
