I ve learned the hard way that Black Patina will remove even kiln fired paint from glass. How do I protect the paint from patina? Anyone had experience and success? Thanks!

Be careful!

Mask it off.

Use a light hand.

Don't use patina?

I truly love the black patina look and all my work employs it. I think the suggestion to mask it off is a great one....but with what?

I want to try painting over the paint side of the glass with glue and let it dry then patina and wash off the glue. I'm out of town all next week so it will be a while before I can see if that works :(

Yes, it is fired to temp required -  Reusche paints. Patina is an acid that will quickly remove even kiln fired paint.

Reading through the post above I found a possible solution!

:confetti: Hey GUYS!!!! I used glue to mask my paint and it worked!!!!

I used what I had on hand, it is a collage type white glue. I still took great care in applying the black patina and blotted it off asap. and used Kwik Clean . Then to remove the glue I put a wet towel over my piece and let it soak an hour then rubbed the glue off. :hersheyskiss:
