This clock is mostly finished, after looking up the clock I found out the tail is attached to the pendulum arm but how do you attach it?

Do you have the clock assembly?  That is where you put the tail, it goes on that and then you need to make sure it fits properly with washers or whatever it is you use for the spacers.  I did a clock assembly in an embroidery cowboy scene and I had to fit the clock assembly so it fit snugly on the frame and so that it would not move around and had to use spacers to accomplish this.  Your clock assembly also needs to be able to handle the weight of the tail on it also and there are all kinds of clock kit assemblies you can buy.  You might check some of the stained glass suppliers and see what is available if you have not purchased one yet.

My dad was apparently just a few steps from finishing the clock, it has a clock box, pendulum, clock face but the other clocks I've seen the tail is glued or something to the pendulum arm
