I'm working on a stained glass / fused glass 19" X 28 "  piece that I need to fuse 3 sections across the top and a central piece under them.I'm planning on leading it but worried about the weight of the fused pieces...I want to have a base of clear with cut glass and frit fused . I know it will be thick and thinking i could just open the channel a bit to allow it but I'm unsure. any thoughts?

Not sure if you can pry it open it that wide.  Maybe you need to look into using zinc channel and see if you can get wider channel
