Building a 16w x 12 h, x 5 inch wide top, 4 sided panel craftsman stained glass lamp shade, for a craftsman wood floor lamp I built. Should I U-Channel all sides of each panel for strength? The plan is to copper foil and solder all pieces on all 4 panels. I'll make a custom 5 inch square vase cap for the top and also custom support brackets that will be mounted off the lamp post. I suspect the shade will be too heavy to be support by the vase cap itself. Thanks so much for the input!

Use wire or copper strip inside where the panels meet and solder that into the vase cap.
